Story

Bud Schultz and Elaine Cosseboom have owned and managed the Cohasset Tennis Club since 2002. Both have extensive backgrounds playing and coaching tennis over the past 40+ years. 

 

Elaine was one of the top Jr.’s in New England coming out of High School and went on to play for the Div. 1 Women’s Team at Boston College for four years and as Captain her Sr. year. Elaine and her family were the USTA National Tennis Family of the year in 1982. She’s competed locally and nationally since then and has a “Gold Ball” given to all USTA champions for the Super Senior Father Daughter Championships. Elaine has coached tennis throughout her adult life and is a USPTA Level 1 certified instructor. 

 

Bud was a Division 3 All-American and went on to be ranked top 40 in the world on the ATP Tour. He has played in Wimbledon, the French Open, the Australian Open and the US Open. Bud coached 3 top ten players in the world, Ivan Lendl, Pam Shriver, and Greg Rusedski, and was the coach of the Boston Lobsters from 2009 thru 2013. He is a member of the New England Tennis Hall of Fame and the Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame and was the co-founder of Tenacity, an urban tennis/educational program that serves over 5000 youth in the city of Boston through literacy and life-skill development. Bud also has a “Gold Ball” for the National Father and Son Championship in 2019. Bud was the Director of Tennis at the historical Longwood Cricket Club from 1990 thru 2002.

 

Together, over the years, they have crafted a culture at the Cohasset Tennis Club that has created an oasis for its members as “A place to exercise, compete, and be with friends!”
